Professor Chau Dieu Ai, Former President of Ton Duc Thang University, passed away

Professor and Colonel Châu Diệu Ái was born in 1934 in Long Huong Commune, Tuy Phong District, Binh Thuan Province. His fatherland is Hoi An, Quang Nam Province.

In 1953, when he was in his final year at Le Khiet High School in Quang Ngai, he was selected to attend the pedagogical institution on Nanning Campus, China. In 1955, because of his outstanding academic achievements, he was sent to study at the Technical University of Dresden (Democratic Republic of Germany).

Returning home in 1961, he was assigned to the Ministry of Home Affairs, which is the Ministry of Public Security now, and was assigned to perform many important tasks such as working as the chemistry consultant for the Minister, leading a professional technical department (P9KG1), and acting as the Director of the Institute of Criminal Science.

After leaving the Ministry of Home Affairs, he was appointed as the Director of the Research Institute for Oil and Oil Plants (under the Ministry of Industry and Trade).

From 1996, he participated in the project on establishing Ton Duc Thang Private University of Technology and became a Member of the Founding Board. In 1997 and 1998, he was the President of Ton Duc Thang Private University of Technology (which is Ton Duc Thang University today).

In all areas of work, he fulfilled his duties well and was respected by subordinates because of his talent and virtue.

Due to his age and weakness, he passed away at 21:10 on October 6, 2019 (September 8 in Lunar Calendar) at his house at the age of 86.
