Top 800 best universities in the world

On 15 August 2020, Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) announced the results of ranking the best universities in 2020: Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) is the only representative of Vietnam being listed in this table and ranked 701-800 in the world

Previously, in August 2019, TDTU was entered into this ranking for the first time at 901-1000 position. After exactly one year, TDTU has increased at least 200 positions!

Currently, there are many university rankings, but ARWU is the difficult university ranking system with the most excellent academic requirements. Consequently, it is also the most prestigious one.

The highlight of ARWU is its objectivity in the assessment. It does not rely on the subjective data provided by universities; and importantly it does not rely entirely on surveys like other university ranking systems. However, the ARWU, on its own, collects the data based on the world databases.

The fact that Vietnam has a university as TDTU ranked by the prestigious and objective university ranking system ARWU for the first time is a great honor for the whole country. It marks an important turning point for the development of Vietnam's education system because ARWU has started the ranking since 2003. But until 2019, there is only one university, TDTU, that can be ranked in this system. And in 2020, TDTU itself has increased dramatically from Top 901-1000 to Top 701-800.

Ranked 960 in Top 2500 best universities in the world

In the 2018-2019 ranking period, TDTU was ranked 2nd in Vietnam and 1422nd in the world. URAP independently uses scientific data on the Web of Sciences for a subjective evaluation method. Criteria on the quantity and quality of scientific works all occupy the highest weight in the ranking results.

This ranking further confirms the academic quality of TDTU has reached international level; in line with many world-class universities; and bypassed many of the oldest universities in the area.

In 2018, Ton Duc Thang went through many strict evaluations with many performance indicators such as teaching quality, employability, internationalization, facilities, social responsibility, research, specialist criteria and inclusiveness, and was honored to be the first public university in Vietnam to be officially ranked 4 stars out of 5 under the QS Stars standard – one of the few university ranking systems that take a global approach. Among these measures, facilities and inclusiveness were awarded 5 stars.
