TDTU students study noise pollution in Ho Chi Minh City and present at the workshop on Sustainable Development in Nanjing, China.

The problem of noise pollution in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) is increasing, seriously affecting the health and life of people. One of the main reasons is the traffic congestion. According to the monitoring data of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the noise measurement results at 150 monitoring points located on 30 roads of Ho Chi Minh City exceed the permitted standards. In light of this problem, although many studies on noise pollution in HCMC have been conducted as predictive models and control methods, there is little research on the spatial distribution of roadway noise. Lecturers and students of the Faculty of Environment and Labor Protection, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) have conducted research and conducted on-site surveys in some main routes for evaluation of current status and identification of spatial distribution of road traffic noise in HCMC. The study has identified the noise pollution characteristics of Dien Bien Phu, Cach Mang Thang 8, Vo Van Kiet, Nguyen Van Linh, and Nguyen Oanh street. Based on the data analysis, the study provides the necessary solutions to minimize traffic noise pollution for HCMC.

International Conference on Water Resources and Sustainability (ICWRS) in conjunction with the 3rd International Conference on Alternative Fuels, Energy and the Environment  was officially inaugurated in Nanjing, China. The conference took place from 28th to 31st October with the participation of many scientists, experts, and doctorate students from countries and territories such as Australia, Norway, Turkey, USA, Japan, Taiwan, the Netherlands, India, China, South Korea and Vietnam. All research works were reviewed and edited by scientists and international experts in relevant fields; also, they were approved and would be published in ICAFEE & ICWRS 2018 Proceedings. Lecturers and students of TDTU attended these workshops.

At the seminar, students had the opportunity to meet and learn many useful knowledge from many professors and international experts in the field of environment as well as to exchange experience between doctorate students; and familiarize with international research-publication activities.
